Bullet Storm

I have recently purchased Bullet Storm by Epic games, EA and People can Fly.  It looked like a really sweet game and plus it includes the new Gears of War 3 beta. Right when I got this game I went to go play with a friend.  But little to my surprise right when I opened up the menu there was no Co-op feature.  This was disappointing to say the least.  But we worked things out and decided to switch off, but this was slightly annoying.  Anyway after we got past the sharing we started the game.
It started off in a space ship set in the twenty-sixth century or something.  When we finally got past the tutorial and saw some game play it was pretty legit. You start off with a pretty good gun and kill plenty of guys.  What is really awesome about this game is the fact that you get this leash that is attached to your wrist.  You can grab people with it and either pull them towards you or throw them in the air.  As the Campaign progresses it starts to get really sweet.  The story line it follows is very good.  The thing that makes the game so good though is the guns that you get to use.  There fictional guns since it is based in the future but they are set on modern guns.
The guns are a big pistol, four barrel shotgun, bazooka, cannon, and a couple of others.  My favorite gun I liked playing with was a sweet sniper.  It started off by locking in on the guy then when it got close you had the capability to move the bullet in mid air.  Didn’t make any sense but it is really cool.
Anyway I don’t want to give to much of the game away in case you were planning on getting it.  But honestly I would recommend playing it.  If I could go back I probably wouldn’t buy it but it is definitely a game to rent for a while.

History Bowl

This Saturday I went down to Dowling Catholic High School to compete in a history bowl.  Going down there I really had no idea what to expect.  I was kind of thinking that were just going to straight up get dominated and not even answer a question.  On our way to Des Moines we went over a lot of sample question and had no clue on some of them. This made me a little bit worried because I thought that the other team would nail those questions.  We were also curious about what Central Academy was because they had four teams.  We looked them up on the internet and it is pretty much a school with only AP classes in Des Moines.  Also they have their own Wikipedia page.  Central Academy has also won a lot of money from other science and math competitions. Kind of intimidating. So when we finally got there it was slightly nerve racking and I wasn’t sure what it was going to be like.
The bowl started off with a meeting where this guy gave us our random seed in the tournament and direction on what to do.  After this we went into our designated room and got ready for the first round.  In the room we learned that we were facing one of the Des Moines Central Academy teams.  We thought we would get killed.  But once the match started it was a lot easier than expected.  Also a lot of the questions we didn’t know they also didn’t know.  In the beginning It was a fairly close game with us trailing by a little bit.  Until the final quarter when they answered a lot more.  And we ended up losing our first round.
The second round turned out a lot better.  We pretty much dominated the team and hardly let them answer.  The third was insane.  They had a kid on their team who answered most of the questions before we even had an idea of what it was.  His teammates answered like two questions without him.  Without that kid we would have probably won.  The fourth was exactly like the first where they didn’t pull ahead until the fourth quarter.  The finally the fifth round we completely dominated the team again and beat them pretty bad.  Although our record was 2-3 we didn’t make a spot in the playoff rounds and went home before the competition was over.

Zombies

I’m really not sure what to blog about and I’m really tired so I might as well just talk about what I was doing that kept me up this late.  As many of you know I had just recently bought the new map pack for call of duty so I decided to play it with some bros.  Bice came over at like 830 and we started gaming right when he walked in.
We decided to play Ascension which is the new Zombie map from the First Strike map pack.  Me and bice didn’t really want to go at it alone so we decided to play with parker for a match.  We started off pretty strong but then when we got pretty far we completely fell apart.  We lacked any real strategy except just kill as many as you can. So we were kind of just setting ourselves up to fail.
But anyway after we died we stopped for a bit then jack wanted to play with us so we decided to play.  Instead of playing ascension again we went for the older map, Kino Der Toten, because we can get a lot further on that map.  We have a pretty solid strategy and it goes a little like this.
We start off in the main room where ever one has their own window.  When we get to around round five we buy the upstairs door then go down to the room with the speed cola.  In this room we have two people watch the upstairs passage and then the other two people take care of the windows.  Then whenever it gets to be too much or we just get bored we go out to the stage where we pretty much do the same thing.  But we usually come across the box so it’s a lot easier.  Then when we get a lot of money we turn the power on and upgrade our guns, if we haven’t spun the box yet.  Then we pretty much just teleport and take a couple of laps.  While trying to get the ray gun and then what ever else you can get.  So it’s pretty much the best strategy and has gotten me to twenty eight before.

First Strike

I recently bought the new Call of Duty: Black Ops map pack and I am very pleased with it.  For those of you that don’t know what it is, it is an expansion of Black Ops that included four new multiplayer maps and another new map for the zombie mode called ascension.   My favorite multiplayer map that came in the pack is easily Kowloon it’s a pretty small map and I really like how it’s laid out.  Also I can’t forget about the two zip lines in the middle of the map.  This is something that the people for call of duty have never done before, and honestly I think it’s pretty sweet.  Except the only down side to the zip line is that you are completely exposed to enemy fire when going on it.

The new map pack also contained one of the greatest maps I have ever played zombies one.  This is the best part about the first strike map pack.  I could honestly play zombies on this map forever and not get bored.  They made it pretty original by adding a color filter so all that you see is black and white in the beginning until you turn the color on.  The map also comes with two new perks that aid in the zombie killing.  Honestly the zombie map I one of the best things that Treyarch has put out.

One of the only negatives is that the First Strike map package cost fifteen dollars.  That is a pretty steep price from map packs for halo which usually cost only around ten dollars.  The other negative would be that the map stadium sucks pretty bad.  It’s not even fun to play on.   There are a whole bunch of windows and being in the stadium is certain death.  I really don’t like the map.
Overall I would say the new map pack is pretty sweet.  The price is kind of high but it’s all worth it because of ascension.  It will keep you playing for a longtime.  Great job Treyarch

Blogger's Block

I have seriously been sitting in my bed in front of the laptop for thirty minutes now trying to come up with a blog topic.  This is probably one of the hardest times I have ever had on any homework assignment. I usually can pull together something to write about but this time I’m drawling a complete blank.  I can’t piece a single thing together.  I have the biggest case of blogger’s block ever.

I have even resorted to looking on the internet for some to write about.  I just typed in Google “What to blog about.” You can find the link at the bottom of the page if you’re ever in the same situation as me.  I thought it was a pretty good site but I still couldn’t think of anything.

After trying to find something on the internet I needed to find a new way to write a blog.  So I tried to see if I could maybe get some ideas by reading some other people blogs.  After reading a couple I tried to write a blog about the crazy weather changes but I couldn’t even get one hundred words, which was ridiculous on my part.  So then I thought that I might be able to write a blog about my weekend.  And again it turned out to be an extremely shot blog again.

After all of these attempts I was very frustrated and still couldn’t think of a single thing to blog about.  I almost gave up and I was just about to write it tomorrow morning until the idea popped into my head to write about my little journey about finding a good blog topic.  So I was like why not just try to write about that.  And here I am almost three hundred words later satisfied with myself in finally getting my topic figured out. But anyway here is that link.   http://onlinejournalismblog.com/2009/02/04/starting-a-blog-12-ideas-for-blog-posts/

MCHS

During my first year of high school it was pretty sweet but that soon went down the drain after they decided to change a couple of things.  My freshman year we could carry our bags ever where and go in any door we wanted but after a gun threat they changed all of these rules.
I mean it did make sense to temporarily suspend students from carrying their bags around to classes and also not allowing access into the building though any other door but the main one.  All of this seemed necessary at the time why are they still implementing these rules?
Seriously why can’t I carry my school bag to class anymore? It makes no sense at all why this would still be a rule because it happened almost a year ago.  It was far more convenient for me to carry a bag so I didn’t have to stop at my locker after every period like I do now.  And also they don’t allow a gym bag anymore which really confuses me.
The worst thing about our school is walking from your car in freezing weather to school and finding that the side doors are locked and you have to walk all the way to the front doors.   They finally decided to open the side doors in the morning when the wind chill reached a nice thirty below even though it’s still a walk to get there.  It would make far more sense just to open up the gym doors which is the closes.  If they’re going to open up the side doors what is the point in keeping the gym doors locked?
But really though I think they need to consider changing these rules back to the way that they were. It was a far better time than what it is now.  It’s so dumb how they would keep the rules they created one year and carry them into the next.  So dumb.

Facebook

If your reading this im pretty sure you are familiar with the social networking site Facebook.  Chances are you probably have an account set up for yourself or you know someone who does.  Although it can give you a chance to catch up with your friends it has a lot of negatives.
One really bad one is that it can become addicting.  I was reading an article of a person who had to delete her profile and commit “Facebook suicide” because it was ruining her relationship with her boyfriend and eating up to much of her time.
Which bring me to my next point, people who excessively use Facebook lack physical contact with their peers and the outside world.  It is far too easy to connect with hundreds of people online rather than face to face which many people don’t do enough of.  Also it just eats up to much of your time.  You could just get on to check your notifications and end up just going through many of your friends profiles and just looking at their picture for much longer than you intended.  Facebook also leads to many privacy issues.  People are willing to share much more information about themselves then they otherwise would in real life because they fell Facebook is a safer way to tell the world.  You could also acquire a couple of “Facebook Stalkers” that you probably don’t want.  It is easy for them to find out information about you that they never would be able to in real life without the help of Facebook.
And really though for the people that use Facebook do you really care what half of your Facebook friends are doing?   Also have you ever been with a friend who loves the book and most of the time when your with them they are updating their status or just going through the news feed seeing what other people are up to rather than just being with you? It is probably the most annoying thing I have ever seen.
